I am in the power business in TX..this is correct. Very often power in West Texas (where all of the windmills are)is negative - that is the "grid" will pay you to consume power cause there is a glut of it. Not enough transmission exists to get it to market (dallas, houston, etc).

I was on a flight with an engineer who works on boilers for gas and coal fired plants. He said the utilities claim they have to throttle their plants back when the wind comes up. When they throttle them back they become very inefficient. Much higher co2 output per KW. Because he peaked my interest I found one web site that claimed wind is only 11% cleaner then coal if you factor in running the plants part throttle. I couldn't find anything to substantiate it. Do you know of any sites or information about what the real carbon footprint of wind is? This mob stupidity will not end until all the politically correct know they have been had. The sooner the better.
