These are some of my favorite blogs, in no particular order.

Instapundit

Glenn is, of course, the blogfather. He monitors the news so that you don't have to. No one knows how he does it, but necromancy is probably involved.

Lileks and the Bleat

James Lileks' writing just suits me. He picks topics to write about that I find interesting; he writes very personally, without being cloying or icky; and he uses interesting metaphors and turns of phrase. The podcasts are great, too.

Roger Simon

Roger Simon has a nice sense of which news matters and which does not. He writes well and briefly and he occasionally has a nice "insider" take on Hollywood.

The Dilbert Blog

In some ways, more interesting than the comic strip. Scott Adams is a keen observer.

Richard Lawrence Cohen

Richard's blog is a sort of writer's notebook. Sometimes it contains short fiction, sometimes just notes on things passing by. Many of his posts lead to interesting discussions in the comments.

Jeff Jarvis

Jeff is doing some fine thinking about modern media over at BuzzMachine.

Virginia Postrel

Ms Postrel's insights into quality and design are nearly always interesting. Her books are good, too.

Iraq, The Model

This blog is by two brothers who live in Baghdad. Their insight into the local situation is about a hundred times more useful that the average network reporter "embedded" at the bar of the Palestine Hotel.

Belmont Club

Wretchard writes some of the most intelligent commentary on the War on Terror that you will see anywhere. He makes connections that you won't see made anywhere else.

Dr. Weevil

Dr. Weevil's site contains a nice mix of stuff written by a smart guy whose interests are a oddly scattered as my own.

Mad Housewife

Mad Housewife is the latest of Alice's series of blogs. I like it because it's local (in Austin) but it brings an outsider's viewpoint (Alice is from the UK). It's also quite calm. I like calm.
